MIKIS THEODORAKIS ON MICHALIS CACOYANNIS

Michael Cacoyannis

A truly great Greek has died, one who enriched the Greek art and Greek people with immortal spiritual works.

He loved with all the power of his soul his birthplace Cyprus and lived every moment with the hope that it will look like once. Perhaps for this reason Hellenism prevailed in his soul and thinking, so as to become a main feature of his great art.

The Greeks should be proud not only because they inherited all these unique works of art, but also because these works mirrored the soul of Greece, from mythical times to modern times. And also because of their global impact, these projects show the true face of our country, something that we need in the difficult times we spend.

For us who lived so close to him, it is impossible to believe that he left us alone. Literally ....
