DISSOLVE NATO! NOW!
I don’t know how the word “NATO” sounds in the ears of other European peoples, but in the ears of the Greek people it sounds like a curse.
Because it means foreign intervention, civil war, national disasters, a police state, dictatorship and a national haemorrhage caused by massive expenditure that the Atlantic Alliance has imposed on us at the expense of our own economic development and prosperity.
In essence NATO, especially after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact, has been nothing more than an obedient instrument in the hands of American imperialist politics, and is responsible for thousands of human victims and innumerable disasters aimed at innocent people in the Balkans, in Afghanistan, in Iraq and in Gaza. A war machine that insists on dividing the world into good zones and bad, and into people of A and B categories, using as its weapon the rekindling of hatred and discord.
Today, with the deep economic crisis which is plunging the superpower and its satellites rapidly into chaos, it becomes ridiculous and dangerous to preserve this colossal mechanism which devours millions of Euros in the name of a social and economic system that finds itself in a state of complete collapse. How is it possible then, that these so-called “higher” peoples who make up NATO continue to maintain that they represent the free and so-called “superior” world with the right to punish the “lower” peoples so as to impose their system on them? And what system? The savage exploitation and glorification of Money which today condemns them to masses of unemployed and tomorrow to masses of hungry and wretched workers?
It is not only the leaders, ruling elites and politicians, and the generals who support them who are to blame, though. It is also the fault of the people who tolerate them. Where are the unions? Where is the blazing youth? Where are the masses of workers, whose hour of great trial has already arrived? And how has a Europe of 300 million people permitted a handful of politicians and generals to spend billions of Euros in the name of so-called freedom and human rights, when this great crisis attacks their own countries and the only freedom remaining to them is the freedom of unemployment, underdevelopment, and tomorrow, poverty.
So it is not only unethical for us to dare to consider NATO as a force for freedom and justice, but it is disastrous for the economy of Europe. Just think how many thousand jobs could be secured by this goldmine which is now used for wars, destruction and the slaughter of civilians.
This is why the time of words is over and its is a historical necessity to enter a time of action, with the dissolution of NATO as a watchword, which beyond all else, like a blind instrument of the generals of the Pentagon and of American policy, has as its mission not to allow Europe to walk upright. A Europe that belongs to its own people and not to the generals of America and of NATO.
