The Foundation of the Hellenic Parliament for Parliamentarism and the Democracy organizes in its space intended for exhibitions, a show dedicated to the great Greek, composer, politician and thinker Mikis Theodorakis.
The exhibition will be opened to the public from March 13 to September.
Through a rich material of photographs, scores, manuscripts, book editions, discs, concert programmes, as well as sound and audio-visual documents,the exhibition presents the musical work, the action and the political presence of Theodorakis, as well as the man and thinker.
Within the framework of the exhibition a catalogue is published. Beside the material of the exhibition it presents texts which show the multidimensional personality of Theodorakis.
The objective of the exhibition and the catalogue are a better understanding of a man who gave expression to all Greek people with his political words and the Grecity and universality of its music.
The material of the exhibition comes from Museums, ERT, ERA, the Library of the Parliament, the Television channel of the Parliament, the Association "Friends of Megaron" , the Megaloeconomouu Museum and private collections.
The exhibition will be inaugurated, Thursday March 12, 2009 at 7.30 p.m., by the President of the Republic, Mr Karolos Papoulias.
The TV channel of Parliament (VOULI) will present interviews, documentary films, televised recordings of the musical work of Mikis Theodorakis.
